The story of Comatec begins in Tampere
Aulis Asikainen and his business partners created the name of the company by condensing the name of the conveyor industry magazine Conveyor Material Technics. Their business idea is to engage in design work and operate as a service company with a focus on machine and equipment design.
Year 1996
Jorma Nordfors (1996) and Petri Leino (1998) joined Comatec as partners alongside Asikainen. Pioneering university collaboration begins as Comatec commissioned its first industry-specific research project in collaboration with the University of Tampere (1998).
The company’s automation design service is launched. Comatec takes its first steps in skills development by acquiring industry-leading computers and software, swiftly transitioning from 2D to 3D design.
Year 2014
The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM; now the European Union Intellectual Property Office [EUIPO]) grants the company the right to use the trademark symbol ®. Thus, the Comatec brand is born.
Year 2016
The internationalisation of Comatec Group progresses with the establishment of Comatec Poland sp z.o.o in Wroclaw (2016) and Comatec Engineering s.r.l. in Brasov, Romania (2019).
After thirty years of operation, Comatec’s core mission remains clear: to develop and manufacture capital goods, production plants and production processes. The company’s foremost industry expertise lies in work machines and special vehicles, material handling systems, production equipment and systems, as well as boilers and power plants.
