Anne, Senior Design Engineer, Imatra, Finland
Anne came to Comatec after having worked in her first job since graduation for almost 20 years.
– One day in January 2018, I received a call from Comatec inviting me for a job interview. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to go along, just out of interest and for the experience. The job offered looked really interesting, and so after careful consideration I decided to join Comatec – one of the best decisions of my life, Anne says.
As a Senior Design Engineer, Anne’s job involves electrical design in EPLAN, AutoCAD and CADS, and she handles orders for electrical components for central manufacturing and as individual parts for delivery to customers. Anne creates purchasing parts lists using database-driven design software. Anne’s daily tasks also include handling invitations to tender from suppliers, participating in the tender calculations, placing and following up on orders, receiving ordered parts, and maintaining the related catalogues.
– What’s inspiring and rewarding about my work is that I get to develop ways of using database-driven design software that removes unnecessary and burdensome steps for the designer. The best thing about my job is its variety and diversity – there’s a whole lot of widely differing things to do.
Anne sometimes comes across hurdles in her work related to strength, physical dimensions and knowledge of technical tools, but with the help of her colleagues things always turn out a success.
– Even difficult tasks can be done well, even if you haven’t the foggiest idea how at first. Comatec has faith in its personnel: the view is that in any given situation, the person will either already know what to do or will work it out. And colleagues are always keen to help out when needed.
– I think it’s important in a working community to be able to turn to each other for advice. We have a very low bar here at Comatec both for asking for help and giving it. Being able to mentor others allows you to learn even more yourself, and to feel valued. This is a big part of the Comatec community.
– Working at Comatec, I’ve perhaps learned most about the need for individual component add-ons, and also about the need to be more at ease with myself. I definitely recommend Comatec!
