Nico, Test Engineer, Vantaa, Finland
Nico is a newly qualified master electrician, having completed specialised vocational training at the Taitotalo vocational adult education centre alongside his work. Nico’s background is in electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunications. He has over a decade of experience in various electrical installation and electrical automation maintenance jobs in different industries.
Nico found his way to Comatec through LinkedIn.
– I saw an interesting job ad on LinkedIn and contacted the recruiting supervisor. During an interview at Comatec’s Vantaa office, I learned more about the job and got to talk to a client representative, Nico says.
The job involves working at the client’s factory in the capital region. Nico deals with large drives and motors every day, and his long experience in the industry is a real bonus. The work includes modifications and cabling of test equipment, and installation of measuring equipment for tests. Nico also performs and reports on the tests according to the designer’s instructions.
– I act as a consultant for the client, but I’m treated every bit as well as their in-house employees. I rarely go to a Comatec office. But of course, I’m often in contact with my supervisor, who’s always available and asks how things are going, and if I need help with anything.
– The very best thing about my job is the great team. We all work together and help each other. I also like the variety of the work and the fact that every day is different. There are also plenty of challenges, and the job calls for problem-solving skills, installation experience and accuracy.
What would you say to someone who is considering applying to Comatec?
– They should definitely give it a shot. Comatec offers excellent development opportunities, and self-improvement is genuinely encouraged.
